ACHNE APHN 2023 Joint Conference
June 5 - 8, 2023, Mission Valley San Diego, CA
Bring your undergraduate and graduate students to the ACHNE APHN 2023 Joint Conference to share their work in the student poster session. Students are invited to submit abstracts on any topic related to Community or Public Health Nursing.
Student Abstracts will be accepted for ePosters only. Student abstracts are limited to 250 words. Submissions must list up to three (3) measurable, educational objectives for your presentation, using only one (1) verb per objective. Authors will also need to identify which conference objective(s) the abstract addresses and classify the focus of the abstract. Authors must also provide a list of references within a five-year time limit. Objectives and References are not included in the abstract word count. The lead author will enter the names, degrees, credentials, and institutional affiliations of each additional author. All authors are required to complete Conflict of Interest questions (answers collected when the author's information is entered into the abstract collection system). This information is required by our CE provider and must be provided in order to complete an abstract.
Abstracts undergo a blinded, peer-review process. Abstracts will be reviewed and scored [0=not apparent, 1-weak, 2=moderate, 3-strong] on each of the following criteria:
- Relevance to conference theme and objectives
- Significance to community health nursing education and practice (Of interest to our audience? Implications stated or suggested?)
- Quality of description of subject matter (Well written and organized? Style and appearance adequate?)
- Clarity and cohesiveness of abstract (Rationale sound? Conclusions logical?)
- Creativity of approach / Originality of subject (Novelty of concept or application?)
- Relevance to the conference theme (Developing and Supporting Leadership)

- Baccalaureate and prelicensure graduate nursing student presenters must be registered for the Annual Institute at the time of presentation.
- Graduate student presenters must be student members of ACHNE and be registered for the meeting at the time of presentation.
We invite you to present your work, insights, and research on diverse topics that address the following conference objectives and supports ACHNE’s Core Values:
Purpose
To provide a scholarly and supportive meeting ground for Community/Public/Population Health Nursing Leaders – both educators and practitioners – committed to excellence in community, population, and public health nursing; To Advance population health by bridging Community/Public/Population Nursing practice, education, research, policy, and leadership together.
Objectives
- Identify and build upon emerging opportunities for academic-practice partnerships to transform PHN practice for the 21st century;
- Highlight new insights supporting innovation in PHN practice, education, scholarship, and policy to advance health equity;
- Identify and build interprofessional scholarship interests between PHN educators and practitioners;
- Explore emerging trends in PHN preparedness for and response to public health emergencies and disasters;
- Describe collaborative approaches supporting PHN transition from training to practice;
- Explore strategies to support the recruitment, retention, and resilience of a diverse PHN workforce;
- Explore approaches to increase capacity of the PHN workforce to assure foundational public health services and capabilities;
- Explore methods to demonstrate the value of PHNs (e.g. establish nurse sensitive indicators for community/public/population health nursing);
- Identify experiential and educational preparation for faculty teaching clinical and didactic components of the AACN competencies focused on community/public/population health nursing at the basic and advanced levels.
Guidelines for Learning Outcomes
If accepted, at least one presenter will be required to register for and attend the 2023 Joint Conference and represent their ePoster during the Poster Reception.

ACHNE & APHN are using the Learning Toolbox ePosters this year. Posters are no longer one-dimensional, limited to information that just fits on a standard printed poster.

What happens if my abstract is accepted but I am unable to attend the Joint Conference in person?
We encourage our accepted authors to make every effort to attend the Joint Conference in California. However, we understand that travel can be uncertain at this time, and will work with you to ensure your work is adequately represented.
